Procedures concerning the transport of hazardous materials are described in the Port and site regulations Moerdijk Port Authority 2005 and general local regulations Municipality of Moerdijk 2005.
Reporting of incidents
Any incidents occurring during the loading or unloading of harmful and/or hazardous materials must be immediately notified to the Moerdijk Port Authority via the marine telephone channel 12 or telephone +31 168 38 88 88. There is 24-hour accessibility for this purpose.
Port reception facilities for ship’s waste and loading residues
In agreement with Marpol 73/78 and the EU guideline 2000/59/EG, ports are obliged to offer reception facilities for oil residues, harmful liquid materials and waste. These facilities must meet the needs of the vessels without unnecessary delay.
In accordance with these regulations, the Moerdijk Port Authority has a List of designated companies with port reception facilities.
Reception companies pick up waste at fixed tariffs, which can be requested from these companies via the ship-brokers. Waste is picked up using vessels or vehicles.
