Zevenbergen

Zevenbergen, with a population of 14,127 inhabitants, is the largest centre. Zevenbergen has historically had a regional function. In the 13th century Zevenbergen was already a centre for the warehousing and transhipment of salt and peat. In the heyday of the sugar industry, from the mid-19th century to circa 1980, Zevenbergen had as many as three sugar factories.
